African Voices Forum provides the following for its members: Clear information and legal advice tailored to their needs; Dedicated specialist support; Local, regional and national network linking African community associations and similar organisations across England, Wales and Scotland; Up-to-date information on government policies and new and existing legislation and regulations affecting the creation and running of community organisations; A channel through which to lobby local and national governments and effectively represent the interests of African community organisations in current policy debates.
AVF supports its members and other community organisations directly through: Exchange of information through e-forums, Information sheets, e-news letter and eventually a quarterly on line and print magazine called AFRICAN COMMUNITY; Its own and other publications; AVF’s Continuing Professional Development CPD scheme, which helps you to plan your career, identify skills gaps and select the appropriate training needed to achieve long-term professional objectives; A directory of member organisations and others; An advice service, including a daily telephone advice line; A data-base of African and African-Caribbean experts; A consultancy service at different levels from trained practitioners; Specialist development work to promote good practice; Encouraging new initiatives and sharing best practice; Networking with professionals and other organisations throughout the UK and abroad.This would operate in a similar manner to Ecademy and similar networking sites; African Voices Resource Packs for schools and other educational institutions; AGM for members and others concerned with community engagement, equalities and community cohesion; Training for members covering all aspects of their work; Regular briefings on insurance, legal and technical matters; Links with the National Millennium Volunteers Programme; More focused development projects
African Voices Forum advocates for its members, and the wider community sector, by: Undertaking research beneficial to members and wider society; Examining new legislation and regulation, and monitoring the impact of what already exists; Contributing to social policy debate; Promoting public awareness of Africans (history, culture, politics etc.); Acting in a consultative capacity to Local and Central Government
Members will be able to participate in discussions that interest them most in AVF website forums. Some forums will be open to all and some restricted to members. Management Consultancy Register (MCR) AVF members can join, utilise and profit from the MCR which qualifies and registers individual consultants and supplies potential business leads to the registered consultants. Registered consultants are independent consultants who have a wide range of training and experience and are geographically well distributed. All of which means that they can offer you consultancy cost effectively. Consultants must undergo an initial assessment during which they have to provide evidence of experience and customer satisfaction. They have to undergo reassessment every three years and demonstrate that they continue to fulfil the entry requirements. Because they are independent they are free to quote competitive rates. Consultants are expected to take part in continuous professional development and maintain their skills. Registered consultants are bound by the management consultants register code of conduct. |
